Family Guy fan? User of the Internet? If either (or both) of those apply to you then you likely heard that Brian Griffin, the dog from Family Guy, passed away in the most recent episode. The episode was one of those awkward episodes in a comedy that was more serious than anything else. As the Griffin family mourned, Lois eventually decides that it will be best for the family to adopt a new dog.
And voila! A new member of the Griffin clan is introduced. His name is Vinny, and he is an Italian "pussy hound" who differs greatly from Brian. Vinny has only been on our screens for about 5 minutes, so I don't feel comfortable saying whether or not I like him, but I already sense that they dynamic of the show has shifted. Stewie and Brian's relationship has grown over the past 12 seasons, only to be halted by Brian's sudden death.
Of course, the show could bring back Brian, but I am excited to see a shift in the chemistry of the show. The introduction of a new character brings potential for fresh content and new storylines. Plus the writers for the show seem pretty confident in their decision. However, introducing a new character also brings potential for a ratings freefall. If things don't work out for the show, Vinny could find himself buried in a grave next to Cousin Oliver from the Brady Bunch.
